I can actually say that I’m looking forward to taking a break from running today. The past 3 days I’ve logged 22 miles.

My left leg has some pain that radiates toward the outside of my knee. I’ve figured out that it’s not my knee as much as some sort of ligament or muscle about 5 or 6 inches above my knee on the outside portion of my leg. I first noticed this pain after running my last set of intervals. It subsided a little while I was sick for a week but it’s never fully recovered, I guess. The pain, especially when I first start running is pretty rough. The pain decreases after mile 2 and I hardly notice any pain. However, my running partner noticed I was favoring my left leg, so perhaps it’s affecting me more than I realize.

Sitting here, I feel a dull ache. If  I reach under my knee and massage the spot I can definitely feel it. I’m not wincing or anything…but I know it’s there. I notice it when walking up the stairs too especially when I’m carrying something (kid or rocking chair). 🙂

I hope my day off will help heal the problem a little more. I’m afraid it will be with me through the half marathon. I will say that I hardly noticed it on the Valentine 10k run. Go figure!
