The training for Bloomsday will actually begin the week of my birthday in February…about the 3rd week. Until then, I have been doing lots of core exercises and some speed work. I want to pace myself in training as to avoid peaking before the race.

It looks like a good time for a half marathon in mid June over in Vancouver,Washington. I think I’ll try that one to obtain my PR. We’ll see.

It’s been difficult to remain healthy. For some reason, the kids have been getting sick (stomach bugs, ER trips for various things, and sore throats) often. I felt horrible last week that made me have to call in sick to work. I haven’t been that sick for as long as I can remember. Hopefully this bout of sicknesses is all we’ll have to deal with throughout the rest of the year!

Before the Bloomsday (May 1), I’d like to lose about 15 more lbs. In addition to being able to run faster, I hope to lower some of my cholesterol levels. We’ll see in about 3 weeks or so when I go in for the blood work.

Lisa and I celebrate our 7 year anniversary today. Hopefully the kids get some good medicine and feel better so we can enjoy a date night. Chances are better to celebrate later in the week or maybe next week.
